Stock market ambassadors visit

 We had the possibility to listen and learn from a lecture hosted by the Stock Market Ambassadors (Pörssilähettiläät) from Pörssisäätiö. Stock market as a concept and the topic of the lecture can sound complicated and too broad at first, but the lecturers, which were about our age, managed to encourage us to not be "afraid" of the subject. Instead, they managed to educate us in a way that it made sense to each and every one of us. Below are the main points that we were being educated on:


  • Investing is a smart way to earn money, or potentially to even make a fortune, but it needs a comprehensive understanding not only of what you're investing in, but also how much and when to invest. 
  • The secret to financial success isn't so unambiguous. The secret to getting rich is the smart use of money. This can be interpreted in many ways, but smart investing and thinking of your true needs will help you save money.
  • However, saving up money for too long can bring up the negatives of inflation! Inflation will eventually bring the value of money down, so a smart individual must know to not save it up for too long.

 Today's discussion is one regarding our currently relevant election for the local council of the city of Turku. We all know who they are as a group, but what do they really do behind the closed curtains? First and foremost, municipal councillors represent a select region, ward or municipality. Second of all, their most important concrete job is to tend to a budget and manage a city or region's expenses as well as revenues plus, in relation to money, they also approve different fundings.
